Week 10 - 9 ½ weeks… but not as exciting. 2 October 2023

We have figured out that progress at the speed of light past 9 weeks is not sustainable, but the finishes are starting to look great!  The first views of the stucco walls and the screed floors are getting us very excited to see the finished product.  And with the counters being installed, the kitchen and scullery are now coming together.

Outside, the pool and hot tub area are going to be dubbed the ‘SkyBox.’  This area is starting to come together with the pool chill deck just waiting for some margaritas.  And on the front side of the house, two new garage doors have been installed and the front gate to the driveway.  This was installed at night by a nocturnal gentleman only using his night vision to get the job done…quite impressive.

Week 2 - Wrecking Balls and Grenades! 7 August 2023

I have personally never used a wrecking ball, or a grenade for that matter, but I am pretty sure my title for Week 2 is quite accurate.  So much rubble from removing a few walls, blowing out some holes in the exterior for more windows and doors, lifting up the tiles and floors to rebuild them, and removing some other extraneous pieces from the 1970's.  My anxiety level hit its max while walking through a Week 2 version of our new abode.  "Keep remember the vision and the drawings"...I have to keep telling myself.  Let's hope Week 3 will start bringing it all together.

Week 8 - Follow the Yellow Brick Road - 18 September 2023

Not quite the Emerald City, but the Emerald Bathroom is starting to get us excited.  I tried to convince Nicci that the floor should be golden colored bricks, but I don't think that fits with her vision.  The kitchen is taking shape with the cabinetry being built, and with the open plan after blowing out that wall, it is going to be a nice central feature in the house.   The outside also got a bit of a facelift with the pool resurfacing, coping and pavers almost being complete.  And our 70s porn star palm trees have now come into the 21st Century with a more manicured look.  The top deck is being painted and is almost complete.

Week 1 - Let the renovation games begin! 3 August 2023

 After looking at the original pictures of this house, I don't really understand how we decided to make this purchase.  But with a visionary project manager (Nicci) spending a couple weeks putting together the drawings, we both were getting excited as the final product started to come to life.  So now it is time to start breaking shit...everything must go!  Carpets, floors, toilets, bathtubs, showers, entire kitchen, walls, and much more.  Nothing like seeing a huge chunk of money leaving you bank account and then you start smashing what you just purchased.  So, have a look at the start of the project....
