Week 12 - Summer Lovin'....havin' a Blast, Summer Lovin'...buildin' so fast - 16 October 2023

Nicci's beautiful mind project is finally starting to shine through the piles of debris, dusty 'everything,' and untamed jungle of a garden.  The pics for week 12 blow my mind!  From having an operating Solar Energy system with storage battery to having a complete secure perimeter; from the beautifully commissioned (and christened) hot tub at the top of property to getting all the internal finishings underway.  Go back and look at Week 1 and you won't believe this is the same house.

The decking that surrounds the house, and goes to the back of the property, is magnificent with views at every point.  The renewed and re-done pool is crystal blue now and waiting for the heat of summer to force us into the cold water.  The master bathroom is complete with the walk-in closet and outside shower making good progress.  The Emerald Room (a.k.a. the guest bathroom) is as spectacular as originally imagined.  The kitchen is almost done and the openness after breaking down the original wall makes it great for entertaining.  The TV room is ready for our enormous comfy couch that is on the way, and the modern floor finish ties everything together.

We are getting close and getting excited to start our next chapter living in an abode that is suited for us, that has the things that we love and enjoy, and that is in the house that Nicci Built!!!

    Some great photos here. Please post a summer pic in the jacuzzi with the notorious South Easter pumping!

I have personally never used a wrecking ball, or a grenade for that matter, but I am pretty sure my title for Week 2 is quite accurate.  So much rubble from removing a few walls, blowing out some holes in the exterior for more windows and doors, lifting up the tiles and floors to rebuild them, and removing some other extraneous pieces from the 1970's.  My anxiety level hit its max while walking through a Week 2 version of our new abode.  "Keep remember the vision and the drawings"...I have to keep telling myself.  Let's hope Week 3 will start bringing it all together.

Week 8 - Follow the Yellow Brick Road - 18 September 2023

Not quite the Emerald City, but the Emerald Bathroom is starting to get us excited.  I tried to convince Nicci that the floor should be golden colored bricks, but I don't think that fits with her vision.  The kitchen is taking shape with the cabinetry being built, and with the open plan after blowing out that wall, it is going to be a nice central feature in the house.   The outside also got a bit of a facelift with the pool resurfacing, coping and pavers almost being complete.  And our 70s porn star palm trees have now come into the 21st Century with a more manicured look.  The top deck is being painted and is almost complete.

Week 1 - Let the renovation games begin! 3 August 2023

 After looking at the original pictures of this house, I don't really understand how we decided to make this purchase.  But with a visionary project manager (Nicci) spending a couple weeks putting together the drawings, we both were getting excited as the final product started to come to life.  So now it is time to start breaking shit...everything must go!  Carpets, floors, toilets, bathtubs, showers, entire kitchen, walls, and much more.  Nothing like seeing a huge chunk of money leaving you bank account and then you start smashing what you just purchased.  So, have a look at the start of the project....
