From 'oh shit' to the Royal Thrones - BATHROOMS (Before and After)

The Master Bath used to be a combination of a college dormitory kitchen and Kevin Arnold's bathroom from "Wonder Years".  And now, it is a beautiful 'wet room' with a shower and bath tub in a room that overlooks the ocean.  If you are bored with the indoor luxury shower or bath, you can 'slum' it in the outdoor shower looking at the sunrise in the morning or the stars in the evening.

   


    

   

   

If the Master was Kevin Arnold's bathroom, then the Avocado and Chocolate guest bathroom was reminiscent of  Archie Bunkers' newspaper study room from "All in the Family".  The transition from the old Master to the new Master bath was quite remarkable, but this one went from really scary to an absolute treasure.  The Emerald Room is one of the key highlights of the house, and the gold accents on the green backdrop make everything feel very regal.

    

       

And finally, the nasty old hospital bathroom was brilliantly converted to a 3/4  bathroom with a dual function barndoor / bookshelf and a larger scullery.  I had my doubts on how we could make this space into a roomy bathroom, and the 3 Stern Close wizard figured out how to make it happen.  Another amazing modification that took true vision to see it through.

Week 2 - Wrecking Balls and Grenades! 7 August 2023

I have personally never used a wrecking ball, or a grenade for that matter, but I am pretty sure my title for Week 2 is quite accurate.  So much rubble from removing a few walls, blowing out some holes in the exterior for more windows and doors, lifting up the tiles and floors to rebuild them, and removing some other extraneous pieces from the 1970's.  My anxiety level hit its max while walking through a Week 2 version of our new abode.  "Keep remember the vision and the drawings"...I have to keep telling myself.  Let's hope Week 3 will start bringing it all together.

Week 8 - Follow the Yellow Brick Road - 18 September 2023

Not quite the Emerald City, but the Emerald Bathroom is starting to get us excited.  I tried to convince Nicci that the floor should be golden colored bricks, but I don't think that fits with her vision.  The kitchen is taking shape with the cabinetry being built, and with the open plan after blowing out that wall, it is going to be a nice central feature in the house.   The outside also got a bit of a facelift with the pool resurfacing, coping and pavers almost being complete.  And our 70s porn star palm trees have now come into the 21st Century with a more manicured look.  The top deck is being painted and is almost complete.

Week 1 - Let the renovation games begin! 3 August 2023

 After looking at the original pictures of this house, I don't really understand how we decided to make this purchase.  But with a visionary project manager (Nicci) spending a couple weeks putting together the drawings, we both were getting excited as the final product started to come to life.  So now it is time to start breaking shit...everything must go!  Carpets, floors, toilets, bathtubs, showers, entire kitchen, walls, and much more.  Nothing like seeing a huge chunk of money leaving you bank account and then you start smashing what you just purchased.  So, have a look at the start of the project....
